Peace Corps Response sends volunteers to serve in highly specialized assignments for 12 months or less and are often the first on the ground when the agency opens a new country program, reopens a suspended country, or pilots partnerships.
Currently, there are over 20 open assignments in the health sector. Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) will serve in health colleges, universities, and clinics in Eswatini, Malawi, and Tanzania. During their assignment, health educators will not only be teaching and training future cohorts of health providers in their countries of service, but they will also be building capacity of local health educators to carry on the work after the PCRVs leave. These assignments are all 12 months in length.
We are seeking professionals with backgrounds in:
Family Nurse Practitioner
Pediatrics and Child Health
HIV/AIDS & Clinic Management Specialist
Occupational Safety and Health Educator
Mathematics and Biophysics (in a health context)
Please note that the PCRVs selected for these positions will not perform work involving patient assessment, management, care, counseling or research, nor will they otherwise perform clinical supervision. The goal of this assignment is to build local capacity of the partner organizations to provide excellent education and training to nursing and medical students.

All Peace Corps Response assignments have different minimum qualifications. To ensure that you are a competitive candidate, please carefully review the qualifications of each position you are interested in and tailor your resume for each application.
Most of these health educator openings require a combination of these skills:
Certification and/or degree in nursing, midwifery, and/or one of the above backgrounds
Experience teaching or precepting nurses or nursing students
Clinical experience in any health setting
Excellent communication and mentoring skills

Additional Salary Information: During service, volunteers receive the following benefits: travel to and from the country of service, housing that has been assessed by our safety and security team, a living stipend that enables them to live in a manner similar to people in their community of service, medical and dental care that covers all related expensive during service, two paid vacation days per month of service. After service, volunteers will also receive a readjustment allowance of $450 per month served.
