As part of the health care team, The Pediatric RN in Hematology and Oncology assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for Pediatric patient. The RN utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to Pediatric patient care.
The Pediatric Hematology and Oncology RN will access port-a-caths, administer blood and blood products, administer chemotherapy, assist with sedations, lumbar punctures, bone marrows, and provide care to acutely ill patients with drug reactions and complete prior authorizations. The RN will provide care to febrile neutropenia and sickle cell patients The RN in Hematology and Oncology will be required to be chemotherapy certified prior to completing orientation, and must obtain PALS within six months of hire.
