The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Knoxville, TN invites applications for the 12-month, full-time position of Pediatric Language Clinic Director with qualifications equivalent to Assistant Professor or higher. Academic rank at the time of appointment will be commensurate with experience and credentials.
Primary duties include 1) administration of an ongoing grant with Tennessee Early Intervention Services to provide early intervention for at-risk and autistic children; 2) conducting research related to autism and/or early intervention, 3) training and supervision of Pediatric Language Clinic staff, and students in the MS-SLP program.
The ideal applicant will have expertise in delivering parent-mediated and developmental language interventions for pre-school aged children on the autism spectrum, experience working with governmental agencies, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and a desire to conduct and collaborate on research designed to improve speech-language outcomes for young children.
1) a doctoral degree with ASHA certification in Speech-Language Pathology, and eligibility for licensure in Tennessee
2) demonstrated experience with and knowledge of treatment for young children on the autism spectrum
3) a strong record of research and/or evidence of a promising research program
4) ability to secure and maintain ongoing state funding for the clinic, and apply for additional funding to support the clinic and research program
