This one to two-year program will begin in the summer or fall of 2019 and is designed to help advanced clinical or research trainees develop and enhance their skills in implementation research with the long-term goal of establishing careers as independent investigators. This unique program is funded by an educational grant from Boehringer Ingelheim and provides the opportunity for successful candidates to receive implementation research training, experience and exposure in both an academic and an industry setting.
The key components of the program are:

Fellows will participate in courses taught by the Center faculty, including those offered by Harvard Catalyst. For fellows spending two years at the Center, this may include training towards a Master of Public Health (or an equivalent degree) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
A weekly meeting series consisting of journal clubs, behavioral science design sessions, updates about on ongoing projects and methods sessions to develop new approaches for study conduct and results reporting.
Hands-on experience designing and conducting observational and experimental research projects focused on scalable interventions to engage patients and providers in healthcare; this will include mentorship in manuscript preparation and grant writing.
Frequent opportunities to interact and network with faculty, affiliates and other trainees at the Center.
To gain exposure to implementation research studies conducted in diverse settings and to the variety of investigators working in this field, Fellows will spend time at both the Center for Healthcare Delivery Science and the Health Economics and Outcomes Research group at Boehringer Ingelheim, headquartered in Connecticut. The specific schedule for each Fellow will be based upon the nature of their projects and other training obligations, including required course work.
Fellows may participate in the program for one or two years. The program will provide salary, benefits, tuition (if applicable), as well as travel and accommodation costs for the periods of time that Fellows spend at Boehringer Ingelheim.

The research conducted at the Center is highly collaborative and involves close partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders in healthcare, including organizations that deliver care, administer health insurance benefits and/or develop new technologies. The collaborators, funders, and faculty of the Center share an interest in the identification, rigorous testing and the independent evaluation of strategies that actually work to optimize healthcare quality. A key principle of the Center's work is the peer-reviewed publication of study results - whether positive or negative. The Center's collaborators are organizations that value this objective evaluation and use the results to help guide the...ir own decision-making.Our MissionTo design, implement, and rigorously evaluate novel ways of engaging patients and providersTo develop and refine methodologies for improving the speed, efficiency and feasibility of pragmatic studiesTo train the next generation of delivery science academics and implementers
