Summary of Job:
Responsible for staffing, training and supervising assigned personnel within the Clinical Pathology area. Ensure functional area is operating in full compliance with GLP requirements, protocols, and SOPs. Provides technical and scientific expertise and leadership in the areas of hematology, serum chemistry, urine analysis, and coagulation assays. Oversees and approves SOP creation and revisions. Communicates with department management, Study Director, Quality Assurance (QAU) and other departments proactively to ensure efficient resource management and quality data generation.
Supervises technicians by scheduling and completing annual performance reviews
Supervises and assists with quality control and lab proficiency programs
Reviews data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency and compliance
Reviews and responds to client inquiries to assist in study and assay design
Prepares, reviews and participates in the validation/qualification of new and current methods for laboratory equipment
Monitors and manages equipment, reagents and expendable inventory
Schedules and supervises staff in Clinical Pathology department
Manages training documentation, scheduling and provides training for the Clinical Pathology staff
Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of staff
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent degree from two-year college or technical school, specializing in medical technology
Work Experience: Two to four years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Supervisory Experience: Two years supervisory experience preferred
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: MT, MLT, (ASCP or equivalent)
Computer Skills: MS Office: spreadsheet, word processing skills are required. Database entry & navigational skills are desirable. Ability to operate equipment dedicated computerized systems
Training Requirements: Continual GLP training. In-depth instruction on instrument maintenance and use. Safe handling of laboratory materials and specimens
Strong planning and organizational skills
Preferred Skills: Productivity, initiative and expert judgment required in carrying out responsibilities. Fosters a cooperative and harmonious working climate conductive to maximize employee morale and productivity. Easily identifies and resolves experimental problems as they are encountered
