The Transplant Center, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, Department of Surgery is actively recruiting a multidisciplinary abdominal organ transplant surgeon at the Assistant or Associate level with an emphasis on liver. Significant fellowship or post-fellowship experience with living donor liver operative procedures as well as living donor liver transplantation will be an important consideration. The surgeon should also be cross trained in kidney transplantation, laparoscopic kidney donors and have experience with pediatric transplants. The academic appointment of this position will be in the Department of Surgery but will be allocated 100% to the Transplant Center with the time dedicated to transplant clinics, regulatory oversight and compliance, quality and outcomes process improvement, and other clinical transplant services as well as teaching.
Candidates should meet the OPTN/UNOS Certification for primary kidney and liver transplant surgeon. Requirements also include Board Certification by the American Board of Surgery, completion of a transplant surgery fellowship at an ASTS approved program, and Texas licensure prior to starting employment.
