The City of Bloomington, Illinois is seeking applicants for the positions of Civil Engineer and Engineering Tech. These positions have responsibilities that range from the performance of varied engineering assignments, such as engineering drafting, field survey work, and construction inspection to complex professional engineering and program management assignments demanding considerable knowledge of various aspects of engineering, related computer software, and drafting and survey instruments.
Requirements for Civil Engineer: Graduation from an approved four year college or university with major course work in civil engineering, including courses in one or more specialized areas of public works or engineering. Minimum five years of experience in municipal civil engineering work. Valid Illinois driver’s license; must also possess licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.
Requirements for Engineering Tech: Associate’s degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years’ work experience preferred focused in engineering and construction activities, computer-aided design systems (CAD), and geographic information systems (GIS); or high school diploma or general educational development (GED) certificate and equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Valid Illinois driver’s license.
