Med-IQ, a Coverys Company, is currently looking for a Director, Risk Management & Patient Safety Educational Strategy. While Med-IQ is headquartered in Baltimore, we are open to where this role is located. This position can be a remote employee.
Under the management of the VP, Educational Strategy and Content, the director role oversees the development of educational content for Med-IQ’s risk management and patient safety (RMPS) portfolio. As part of that responsibility, the Director works closely with members of Med-IQ senior leadership in Educational Strategy, Risk Management, Accreditation, Clinical, Process Improvement, and Sales to create effective, contemporary, and cutting edge education to further the business goals of the organization. The director also leads and supervises a staff for the purpose of generating high quality educational materials that adhere to the highest standard of adult education andragogy. Keeping abreast of developments in Risk Management, Healthcare, and contemporary educational delivery modalities, the Director will play an important role furthering innovative risk management education integrated with Med-IQ signature quality clinical offerings to improve patient safety, risk reduction, and the goals and values of the company.
Position Purpose & Objective / Focus
Strategic collaboration with the VP of Educational Strategy and Content and the VP of Academic Affairs to determine the educational topics and products best positioned to meet the risk management and patient safety needs of various medical professionals
Ensure delivery of educational programs and resources adhere to the highest level risk management and pedagogical standards
Ensure programs and resources are developed delivered in adherence with all appropriate Accreditation Standards
Manage operations of the RMPS division to ensure efficiency and a positive internal and external customer experience
Management and oversight of the RMPS content development process, including personnel and budgets
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Risk Management and Patient Safety (RMPS) Educational Strategy
Collaborate with the VP of Educational Strategy and Content and VP of Academic Affairs to identify and implement a strategy to attain overall business goals as it relates to the development of educational interventions that address existing areas of risk in various specialties and healthcare settings
Direct RMPS educational content development to assure alignment with business goals, client needs and expectations, client feedback, and overall market opportunities as determined by industry research, studies, and experience
Collaborate with Client Services to manage content development and align educational offerings with stakeholder needs and expectations
Oversee departmental processes and team members’ performance to support efficient workflows and the development of high quality educational deliverables that meet the needs of the company
Work with the VP of Educational Strategy and Content and Vice President of Academic Affairs to identify strategic opportunities for advancing educational products, programs or delivery systems
Manage the development of new innovative activity offerings which incorporate the latest in adult learning principles
Participate in the implementation and measurement of RMPS Division strategic plans
Lead the implementation of RMPS Education projects, plans and programs
Ensure ongoing compliance with ACCME and all other company policies and procedures, record keeping, reporting and reaccreditation
Develop on-going relationships with strategic collaborators, internal and external partners
Participate in the planning process for future development and growth of the business, periodically presenting such plans to senior management
Review RMPS faculty evaluations, providing feedback when appropriate, and participates in vetting faculty for future use
RMPS Content Development and Process
Oversee production of RMPS educational content and curricula to reach organizational objectives
Define and document processes to improve efficiency, quality standards and profit margins while optimizing content development and time to delivery
Provide final quality control of all content material prior to release to assure optimum quality, and compliance with all appropriate medical-legal concepts, including statutes, regulations and standard of care
Work with Coverys legal department, or Med-IQ specified legal counsel with regard to legal questions
Collaborate with sales to develop products that support strategic relationships
Present and teach educational activities to physician groups, hospital groups, medical staff and others as appropriate
Participate in taped and live Webinars as determined by the needs of clients or the company
Participate in other forms of live and taped presentations as determined relevant and necessary by Med-IQ and/or clients
Train faculty on interactive virtual education and best practices in adult pedagogical standards
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Graduate or terminal degree in education, nursing, psychology, healthcare administration, public health, or other field related to healthcare, risk management, adult education, or legal.
At least five years’ in a senior leadership role in healthcare risk management, including interface with legal, claims, compliance, patient safety, human resources, finance, the C-suite, the Board, and Ethics
Clinical experience in direct patient care (Physician, Nursing, Physician’s Assistant, Psychology preferred; Allied health professional experience will be considered)
Experience in functioning at a senior management level with demonstrated leadership skills such as personnel oversight, team building, budget management, and strategic planning
Documented experience in the development and delivery of adult education for professional development, including adult education design, curriculum development, and appropriate delivery mechanisms
CPHRM strongly preferred; CPHQ and ARM desirable
Evidence of active involvement in ASHRM, regional risk management organizations, AHLA, or other similar risk management related professional organization in leadership, publication, or committee work
Expertise in healthcare risk management
Basic functional knowledge of enterprise risk management, risk financing, bioethics, and statistics
Experience in presenting professional content at seminars and conferences preferably in risk management or related topics
Computer literate: Able to use Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, and able to learn to use programs effectively
