The University of Michigan Genetic Counseling Program invites applications for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Assistant Program Director position. In collaboration with the Program Director and Associate Program Director, the Assistant Program Director is responsible for ensuring the quality of the clinical curriculum.
The Assistant Program Director will join an existing leadership structure and a cadre of genetic counselors and geneticists working within a world-class academic medical center.
Participate in the ongoing improvement, coordination, and evaluation of the clinical curriculum
Provide mentorship to students across multiple graduate training domains
Participate in didactic instruction
Contribute to ongoing efforts to document and maintain compliance with accreditation requirements
Contribute to the recruitment and selection of new students
Of note, there may be the opportunity to combine this position with another genetic counselor position (clinical or research) at Michigan Medicine for an applicant interested in full time employment.
The successful candidate must have a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling, be ABGC or ABMG certified, and have a minimum of three years of experience in clinical genetic counseling (five years or greater is preferred). Prior teaching and supervisory experience in the field of genetic counseling is desirable.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
