Swedish Shared Services is looking for a Senior Risk Manager (1.0 FTE, Days) to work in Risk Management at Swedish Cherry Hill in Seattle, WA.
The Senior Risk Manager assists the Director of Risk Management in planning, directing and coordinating the system-wide risk management programs for Swedish Health Services. The Senior Risk Manager also oversees incidents and claims issues, including investigation of incidents, loss control & mitigation, and support to litigation for assigned clinical service lines throughout the Swedish team. The Swedish system currently includes five acute care hospitals, two ambulatory care centers and over 1,200 employed providers.
In this position you will:
Initiate investigation of incidents/accidents/events that could lead to financial loss, including professional liability and general liability, and when appropriate, coordinate the process for disclosure and resolution.
Make decisions and authorize appropriate use of funds for purposes of investigation, mitigation, loss control, compensation, litigation and settlement.
Collaborate and communicate with VPMA’s Patient Safety Officers, Patient Relations Case Managers and Medical Staff Office staff in identifying incidents/accidents/events to ensure each appropriate individual is aware and able to perform their duty.
Oversee identified programs designed to educate, train, and monitor personnel whose work requires enhanced awareness of their role in promoting safety and reducing liability exposure.
Act as a primary resource for physicians and staff to identify, clarify and resolve simple to complex risk management issues.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Insurance Management, Risk Management or a healthcare related clinical degree
Minimum 4 years of healthcare risk management experience
Recent or current experience in a medico-legal environment with in-depth understanding of claims management principles
Recent or current experience coaching and coordinating disclosures and resolutions of unexpected outcomes
Working in a medico-legal environment with understanding of claims management principles

The position requires valid driver’s license
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or related certification in risk management
