Plan, organize, develop, and manage the infection prevention and control (IPC) program for their respective region. This position delegates the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties to establish and maintain an effective Infection Prevention and Control program in their respective region. The manager will promote integration of IPC program components within their respective region in collaboration with evidence based standards established at the enterprise level. The manager will be responsible for surveillance activities, prevention strategies, and risk management activities related to IPC. Works directly and collaboratively with Sanford Infection Preventionists across the enterprise to achieve integrated IPC programming in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such functions for Sanford. In collaboration with leadership, will demonstrate the ability to plan, develop, implement and control the annual IPC budget for their management.
Reviews and ensures compliance with relevant organizational and legal policies and procedures. Consult with and advise physicians, educators, researchers, government health officials and others regarding medical applications of sciences, such as physics, biology, and chemistry. Teach principles of medicine and medical and laboratory procedures to physicians, residents, students, and technician. Investigate diseases or parasites to determine cause and risk factors, progress, life cycle, or mode of transmission. Plan, administer and evaluate health safety standards and programs to improve public health, conferring with health department, industry personnel, physicians, and others. Oversee public health programs, including statistical analysis, health care planning, surveillance systems, and public health improvement. Documents and updates surveillance standards for sterilization and disinfection, and dispatches documentation within healthcare facilities. Creates a team environment of accountability and commitment for reaching project goals. Participates in establishing procedures for planning, implementing and monitoring budgets. Secures feedback regarding program success. Coaches lower level managers and supervisors in effective personnel interaction techniques. Provide expertise in the design, management and evaluation of study protocols and health status questionnaires, sample selection, and analysis. Applies specific sterilization and disinfection programs to prevent common infectious diseases in public areas within healthcare facilities. Evaluates risk assessment models and techniques relevant to a specific line of business.
Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
Three years of nursing experience required. Must hold a current and unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse. If applicable, an additional RN licensure may by required, when applicable for practice environment.
Board certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multi-state licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
