The Isabelle Farrington College of Education (FCE) at Sacred Heart University (SHU) invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, twelve-month appointment at the rank of assistant, associate or full professorin clinical mental health counseling (tenure track or clinical track, depending on the background of the successful candidate). The successful candidate will serve as the inaugural Coordinator of Clinical Experiences for the FCE’s forthcoming online master’s degree program in clinical mental health counseling.
The successful candidate will teach core courses within program. Additionally, the successful candidate will develop, plan, and execute strategies to reach out to students to provide all internship/practicum and field experience opportunities. The successful hire will serve as liaison with students, faculty, staff, and outside community agencies in facilitating program objectives, including, but not limited to, developing and facilitating residency workshops, coordinating logistics, site supervision, training and other student activities and duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications Ph.D. degree from a CACREP accredited institution in Counseling; Two or more years of full-time professional counseling/advising, outreach and partnership or relevant administration experience;
Higher education teaching experience; Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, with the ability and willingness to travel to local and extended site locations for supervisory purposes; and Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word.
Preferred Qualifications Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or equivalent;
Experience working/teaching in an online environment;
Experience designing and managing clinical externship or field experience of CACREP accredited program(s).
The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected To: Create and maintain partnerships with clinical/mental health organizations; Demonstrate knowledge of accreditation and program approval standards for clinical mental health counseling, especially as they pertain to field experiences and supervision at sites and at the University; Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in employing best practices in assessment of student learning and academic program outcomes; Demonstrate the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff and collaborate to identify and solve problems and engage in program improvement; Demonstrate the ability to engage graduate students and community partners; Demonstrate the ability to maintain and organize regulatory and compliance documentation, reports, and other metrics using electronic media; Possess the skill and ability to organize the work of self and others; Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines; Demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); and Demonstrate knowledge of counseling privacy and other protocols including HIPPA and FERPA, as they apply to student records and field experiences.
