The Rockefeller University is the world’s leading biomedical research University. Our groundbreaking discoveries in basic and clinical research are transforming medicine. We share a singular commitment to advancing science for the benefit of humanity. Our collaborative culture drives each of us to achieve a higher level, fueling the breakthroughs for which we are known.
We seek a Research Support Specialist to join the High Throughput and Spectroscopy Resource Center.
High Throughput Screening (HTS) is an important step in the discovery of new medicines and involves the miniaturization and automation of bioassays so that millions of compounds can be tested. The High Throughput and Spectroscopy Resource Center (HTSRC) supports the faculty and students in improving the efficiency of their bioassays, identifying compounds and genetic modulators of function, and in utilizing core technologies typically applied to analysis of molecular recognition.
As the Research Support Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Biochemical, cell-based and biophysical assay development and conducting high throughput screens and biophysical assays
Training students in the technical implementation of tool and drug discovery projects
Maintaining microplate readers, high-throughput microscopes and spectroscopic instruments and automated liquid dispensers, procuring necessary repairs and service and independently troubleshooting
Evaluating new technologies and approaches for HTS and spectroscopy
Supporting the writing of scientific manuscripts and composition of methods, figures and figure legends for published materials
Previous experience operating, troubleshooting and quality control for automated pipetting workstations, automated storage systems and microplate readers
Ability to format compound plates for single point concentrations and concentration-response experiments.
Previous experience performing HTS assay development involving a wide variety of fluorescent and cell-based modalities
Experience working with users in the design of HTS experiments and use of instruments
