SWVMHI seeks a dynamic, experienced professional to lead the Quality and Risk Management division/Joint Commission-CMS readiness services at a progressive, recovery-oriented, state psychiatric hospital. In a Values-driven setting, SWVMHI provides outstanding care to adults with complex behavioral health, health, substance use, legal, and other challenges.
The Quality-Risk Manager provides consultation to other hospital leaders in the development of quality Improvement methods/plans and monitors improvement efforts including leading improvement teams, RCAs, and FMEA. Also responsible to organize and provide oversight to the hospital-wide risk management, utilization review, and corporate compliance programs. This includes policy development, dissemination of information, and staff education.
This position is also responsible for the planning, oversight, and evaluation of major Joint Commission/CMS certifications and actions to ensure continual readiness. This position serves as a member of the Executive Team (ET) reporting directly to the hospital Director and works in a close, collaborative manner with other hospital leaders.
KSAs and/or Competencies to successfully perform the work:
Extensive knowledge of healthcare process improvement and project management.
Ability to implement a broad and moderately complex quality and risk management program, including creating and managing processes to track trends and patterns of key clinical indicators.
Ability to lead performance improvement teams including Root Cause Analyses/Failure Mode Effect Analyses and those related to a Patient and Staff safety Culture.
Ability to independently develop measures and aggregate data into graphics and tables.
Ability to review, evaluate, identify, and resolve system problems related to quality improvement and risk management.
Ability to understand and interpret requirements for maintaining Joint Commission accreditation and CMS Medicaid and Medicare certification.
Knowledge of Corporate Compliance (HIPAA) and Utilization Review programs.
Progressive management experience and successful track record of leading and driving change.
Leadership style that promotes a supportive and inclusive environment, as well as values-based leadership skills.
Ability to work with a wide variety of hospital leaders.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Graduate degree in business, hospital management, or related field.
Proven experience with process management and change management.
Strong analytical experience.
Prefer: Experience as a QA/QI Director and as a Risk Manager in a Joint Commission accredited medical or mental health facility, inpatient.
Prefer: Certification in Risk Management, Professional in Healthcare Quality, Six Sigma, or other related credentials.
Prefer: Experience leading continual readiness efforts for Joint Commission accreditation and/or CMS certification.
Additional Salary Information: Salary will be commensurate upon relevant years of experience.
