Lecturer in the Department of Human Service Studies. Elon University invites applications for a Lecturer position in Human Service Studies, beginning mid-August, 2020. At Elon, lecturers are permanent faculty members, with a continuance and promotion process. Candidates should have the ability to teach broadly within the major, with an emphasis on field-based practicum and internship courses as well as an elective in their area of expertise. Additionally, the lecturer is expected to teach within the Elon Core Curriculum. Teaching is distributed over fall and spring semesters in addition to one course during the January Term (3-1-3). Candidates should demonstrate competence in developing and sustaining fieldwork placements, supporting student readiness for fieldwork, and ongoing monitoring of student progress. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter, along with prior teaching experience, teaching philosophy, and examples of student mentoring. To be considered for this position candidates should have:
A graduate degree in a Human Services-related discipline such as social work, counseling, or community development.
A minimum of two years of post-graduate practice experience.
Demonstrated ability to teach effective, high-quality collegiate courses within human services or a closely related field.
Evidence of training in program development and supervision in the workplace.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity and ability to apply culturally responsive and flexible approaches that support the diverse needs of students.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Competence in instructional and assessment technologies.
