• Faculty will work in various aspects of the public health undergraduate and graduate programs. Faculty maintains excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the department and university. A sustained research agenda with a focused emphasis on grant writing and peer-reviewed publications in appropriate journals will be expected. Teach courses in public health foundation, health informatics, and human diseases or public health foundation, epidemiology, and biostatistics. • Faculty provide service to enhance the professional attributes of students (many are first generation). • SHSU will pursue the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation of its BS degree in Public Health; faculty assist in maintaining and ensuring compliance with CEPH standards, guidelines, and assessments. • Other duties performed as requested.
Earned doctorate required, preferably in Public Health. Doctorates in related disciplines also considered (e.g., Health Education, Healthcare Administration, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Sciences).
Professional experience in health management and instructional expertise in institutions of higher education preferred.
At the rank of Associate Professor, the successful candidate should clearly demonstrate a record of high quality university teaching, graduate student mentoring, and peer-reviewed, scholarly productivity that is nationally recognized in the field.
