The Health Information Consultant identifies opportunities to optimize client health plan management through data analysis. The Consultant innovatively identifies solutions to the health care systems challenges for our clients.
Analyze clients health claims experience from Segal’s data warehouse (SHAPE) and develop insight and consulting advice that provides clients with strategic solutions that attempt to maximize the health of the covered population at the most efficient cost.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal staff.
Present results and convey complex ideas in an easily understood manner through graphics, written and verbal communications.
Conduct planning meetings to identify/define client needs/issues and develop approaches that are responsive to client needs.
Track and prioritize projects through coordination and negotiation with internal client teams; ensure effective and efficient communication of information and project plan generation.
Coordinate and conduct quality reviews on work done within the HTS team.
Provide business knowledge regarding the appropriate use of data elements and collaborate with client reporting teams from other areas to establish and maintain these common business rules.
Gather, use and share market intelligence to develop and introduce unique and/or new approaches to servicing clients.
Support business growth strategies and marketing initiatives to assist leaders in business development and cross-selling efforts.
Perform strategic data analysis and research as appropriate to support the business needs of the health practice.
5 - 8 years of analyzing health benefits with a focus on industry current and emerging trends
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
Strong understanding of the health benefits industry, the managed care model, commercial provider reimbursement systems, Medicare rules, industry coding / policy standards, and the claims adjudication process
Familiarity with accreditation standards, as well as standards related to the management of health information
Experience working with large databases
Experience with SQL, SAS or database programming experience is preferred and knowledge/experience with Power BI or a similar report writer (desired)
Demonstrated project management and client servicing/relationship management
