Are you looking in search of a role where you will work in a state-of-the-art pre-clinical imaging facility in leading pharmaceuticals? If so, this Radiochemist Investigator role could be an ideal opportunity to explore as we welcome applications from highly motivated individuals interested in delivering imaging biomarkers to support drug discovery and development efforts.
As a Radiochemist, the primary goal will be to develop radiolabeling methods for both small and large molecules internally and externally (working with academic institutions, CRO’s) using radioisotopes such as C-11, F-18, Zr-89, Cu-64, I-124, In-111and Tc-99 for in vivo preclinical imaging studies. This work will be used to better inform teams regarding optimal molecule and dose selection. Additionally, this work will help reduce attrition in the clinic by providing whole body biodistribution profiles of molecules and target engagement within organs and understand safety concerns leading up to first time in human studies. Some key highlights to our facility house: a radiochemistry lab (synthesizing and dispensing all in one Capintec hot cell, Sofie Biosciences ELIXYS Platform, HPLC, TLC, Cell incubator); Mediso MultiScan LFER150 PET/CT; Siemens Inveon PET/SPECT/CT; Bruker 4.7T/40 cm horizontal and 9.4T/8.9 cm vertical MRI systems; GE & VisualSonics Ultrasound; IVIS and FMT Optical imaging systems; and Laser Doppler imaging equipment.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
Develop and execute analytical methods for the characterization of radiolabeled compounds, using techniques such as radio-TLC and radio-HPLC, LC-MS, etc.
Perform regular synthesis of radiotracers on automated synthesis devices.
Introduce and develop emerging technologies to track small molecules biodistribution (e.g. “click” chemistry), and auto radiolabeling.
Provide radiochemistry/imaging guidance/solutions and collaborate closely with Imaging teams at GSK.
Responsible for working with external collaborators (academic centers, and CROs) to develop radiochemistry methods.
Perform in vivo imaging studies to support the needs of GSK business partners ranging from drug design through safety evaluation to product/device development.
Responsible for study support and data generation/management and communication to project/program teams
Ensure radiation safety during radiosynthesis and radioanalytical chemistry operations.
Maintain compliance with company and departmental policies and procedures.
Assure high standards for animal care and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, or Radiochemistry and a minimum of 2 years of post-doctoral and/or industrial experience working within a radiochemistry lab, or a M.S. degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
Experience in automatic radiosynthesis is highly desirable.
An ability to work well in a team environment and excellent written & oral communication skills.
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
In vivo nuclear imaging experience
