The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine Huntsville Regional Medical Campus (HRMC) invites applications for the position of Regional Chair of Pediatrics. This is a full-time, open rank, non-tenure earning faculty position. The regional chair is charged with promoting the School's mission of education, service, and scholarly activity in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The ideal candidate will be a clinician-educator, and like all chairs on the regional campus, they will want to spend up to 60% of their time being active clinically. The Pediatrics Department provides clinical training for 3rd and 4th year medical students (5-6 per rotation). The residency programs on campus include Family Medicine and Internal Medicine that train a total of 60 residents; Pediatrics is a required component of the Family Medicine residency training program.
Candidates must have an MD/DO degree, board certification in Pediatrics, proven clinical expertise, strong leadership qualities and recommendations, a love for teaching and experience in financial management. The candidate must also qualify for licensure in Alabama, medical staff privileges at Huntsville Hospital, and credentialing with CMS as a physician provider. Huntsville Hospital, our partner in teaching, is a 971- bed Level I Trauma Center and second largest hospital in Alabama. It serves as a regional referral center for all of North Alabama and Southern Tennessee and has physicians in over 60 specialties. Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children accounts for 242 of these beds, with a Level III RNICU, a PICU, an Adult ICU and a Pediatric ER. It is also home to one of only eight St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Affiliate Clinics.
