The Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior (HOB) at Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center on the campus of the University of South Florida, in Tampa, is seeking a faculty member (open rank) with research interests that complement or enhance our existing strengths in behavioral science and outcomes research.
The Department has 15 faculty members engaged in research on tobacco use, cancer prevention and early detection, quality of life, cancer-related health disparities, cancer caregivers, and health outcomes. For the current search, we particularly welcome applicants with expertise in cancer care delivery, patient-reported outcomes, quality of life, symptom management, biobehavioral oncology (e.g., psychoneuroimmunology), and aging studies. However, we will also consider applications in other areas of research.
Moffitt features a robust infrastructure for conducting observational and interventional studies in the above areas. This infrastructure includes well-established collaborations with clinical programs, a highly-regarded biostatistics program with expertise in analyzing patient-reported data, a survey methods shared resource, numerous pilot funding opportunities, and extensive administrative support for grant submissions and management. Moffitt is the third largest, free-standing, cancer center in the country by patient volume, facilitating patient recruitment. Additional resources include diverse networks of community partners, institutional initiatives supporting digital health implementation, and a well-established supportive care program. Extensive retrospective data for real-world evidence studies and other research are available from an integrated repository of clinical, research, and patient-reported information as well as biospecimens from a large cohort of patients (Total Cancer Care® plus founding membership in the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network). Moffitt has a very active translational research program investigating a wide variety of novel therapeutics. Moffitt’s strength in basic science is evidenced by highly-accomplished faculty as well as numerous shared resources to support biospecimen intake and processing, flow cytometry, molecular genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. The Center is characterized by a culture of collegiality and team science, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Successful candidates must hold a doctorate degree and have relevant research training and experience. We seek academic researchers who can contribute immediately, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed funding and publication. Academic rank beyond Assistant Member will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position is tenure-earning. Salary and start-up funds are highly competitive.

Moffitt faculty members typically hold appointments in the Department of Oncologic Sciences or other departments at the university. Moffitt-based faculty members focus their efforts on research, with minimal expectations for formal teaching.
