The Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary invites applications for a full-time Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sport and Exercise Medicine. The appointment date for the successful candidate is anticipated to be July 2020.
The successful candidate will have earned an MD and a PhD in a field related to kinesiology, be at an early stage of their research career, and have demonstrated success in research publications and external funding commensurate with an appointment at an Assistant Professor level. They will have an emerging research program with a focus in kinesiology, injury prevention, sport medicine, rehabilitation, clinical management, and/or musculoskeletal health and will have an active Canadian license to practice as a physician. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to secure external funding through national agencies such as SSHRC, CIHR, and/or sport related agencies, have published in top peer-reviewed academic journals, and evidence of teaching excellence.
The successful candidate will have the potential to become a leader in their research field with a plan for significant contribution to the Faculty of Kinesiology in high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching, graduate student supervision and mentorship, training of postdoctoral fellows, and service. They will be expected to engage in clinical work in the Sport Medicine Centre, Faculty of Kinesiology and provide care for varsity and other elite athletes.
