The SeniorHealthcareRisk Control Specialist provides risk management and risk control services to our healthcare and hospital clients. The ideal candidate will possess a state registered nursing license, a higher learning degree (BS or BA) in a related field and experience in healthcare risk management. This job involves working collaboratively with all levels of the client operations to assess their exposure to loss and develop risk prevention strategies to establish sustainable best practices. Your efforts will focus heavily on employee safety with concentrations in Safe Patient Handling, Needlestick Prevention Strategies/Practices, Ergonomics, De-escalation Techniques, Environment of Care Practices and Regulatory Compliance. You’ll be a member of a talented team of risk management professionals with extensive backgrounds in safety and health, covering a wide array of specializations, that will help support and develop your skills and expertise. In addition to the need for strong competencies in healthcare safety, the position also requires exceptional organization, strong communication skills and confident presentation abilities. Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation and Managed Care practices preferred.
Primarily manage and deliver risk control services for regional clients (West Chester County, NY and Connecticut) and in some cases be required to travel to clients requiring your specific expertise
Develop customized service plans in collaboration with the client and manage service delivery expectations
Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and meet the technical competency requirements for the Risk Control Department
Analyze loss trends and develop risk strategies focused on improving the client’s loss performance.
Develop training materials and deliver presentations to all levels of the client organization
Participate in industry and technical service teams and develop client and internal training and educational materials
Assist in the professional development of colleagues through serving as a trainer and coach in the specific area of specialization
Participate in corporate sponsored projects ranging from public speaking engagements; facilitating web-based learning events, to researching emerging issues
Work out of one of the PMA Companies offices and have the flexibility to work remotely. Travel by car is expected to fulfill the job requirements
Perform assignments, tasks or activities that contribute to the fulfillment of the corporation and department's overall business objectives and exemplifying PMA’s core values
Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B. A.) from four-year college or university.
Candidate should possess a current state registered nursing license.
3+ years of Healthcare risk management experience preferred
5 years of related experience as a Nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), or similar field is required. Professional certifications in the area of Occupational Health and Wellness, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate in Risk Management designation strongly preferred.
Competent in the following risk exposure areas: Safe Patient Handling, Slip/Fall Prevention, De-escalation Techniques and Ergonomics
Understanding of regulations and key risk management issues related to areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA)
Competent in utilization of MS Office with an emphasis on analyzing data using Excel.
Demonstrate strong client service management and consulting skill techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or in a team-based environment.
Strong communication skills as demonstrated through written works, verbal communications, and presentations to clients and groups.
Comprehensive understanding of how to analyze loss reports, develop trends, and identify root causes of loss.
Must meet current company driver's qualification requirements verified through motor vehicle records report.
