The Lab Director will be responsible for managing all administrative and operational functions of a Life Science laboratory, including but not limited to efficient operations, inventory control, and work flow. All studies are conducted in-house in the established lab located at the Regenesis Biomedical facility in Scottsdale. This position works with a team that is focused on investigating the mode of action of Provant Therapy to direct new product design.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees the development and implementation of goals and objectives; develops and implements new procedures to improve workflow and overall operations.
Maintains intimate knowledge of all projects within the lab including resource needs, roadblocks, and current progress of all work; provides feedback to management regarding any impact that priority changes may have on the overall schedule.
Manages the financial operations of the lab including expense and revenue analysis and evaluation of lab services and development activities, ensuring efficient and appropriate utilization of resources; assists with preparation of the operational budget.
Determines and justifies needs for equipment purchases, monitors equipment installations and calibration and oversees proper working order of equipment; may troubleshoot and repair general instrumentation.
Trains staff in the general use and function of designated instrumentation and creates user protocols for general use.
Responsible for development of tracking procedures, maintenance of service contracts and warranties with vendors.
Maintains an adequate inventory of research equipment and materials; coordinates consumable supply stocking and ordering.
Responsible for monitoring the work quality of the lab, including test performance, turn-around time and compliance.
Creates experiments and plans laboratory bench work schedules in advance to ensure experiments are performed in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner; assists with bench work as needed.
Follows rigorous scientific standards to routinely achieve high quality and consistency in a timely manner.
Actively participates in laboratory quality and safety programs, maintains updated procedures and communicates safety and quality protocols to staff.
Creates reports and communications to senior management and the Board of Directors.
Supervises the Research Associate; responsible for employee selection, training and evaluation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to gather, analyze and interpret information.
Attention to detail with an ability to perform critical review of various type of documents.
Capable of advanced problem solving and analysis.
Prior experience and working knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as RNA and protein assays, high-throughput next-generation sequencing, fluorescent microscopy, and electrophysiology-related techniques.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING REQUIRED
Master’s degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry or other life science or clinical laboratory sciences field.
Minimum of 5 years of related lab experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
Demonstrable knowledge of national GLP regulations and guidelines, industry practices, and experience implementing quality systems in a regulated environment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Ph.D. in microbiology, biology, biochemistry or other life sciences or clinical laboratory sciences field preferred.
Management experience in a laboratory setting preferred.
Experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
Must be able to operate a telephone, personal computer and other typical office equipment
Ability to work in a laboratory environment and operate lab equipment in a safe manner.
