Crop Protection Discovery (CPD) R&D delivers value to Corteva through creation of new active ingredients for our product portfolio. In order to accomplish this, CPD conducts biological assays of tens of thousands of samples annually to determine product potential. The Material Management team within Crop Protection Discovery Operations Center is responsible for the logistics associated with all samples for the biological assays. This includes the receipt and registration of samples, the storage of samples in fully automated storage systems, dispensing of samples through manual or automated methods and tracking of all materials.
In this collaborative role, the Material Management – Storage and Retrieval Technical Lead must work independently to manage the compound storage automated facilities that handle our key research inventory. You will serve as the focal point for storage and retrieval of all compounds that will be used for downstream testing within the Material Management laboratory. You will collaborate with the Weigh Lab Coordinator and Dispensing Analyst to complete all requests. The Technical Lead should deliver a high quality results by implementing/following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining the storage facilities, troubleshooting issues and managing periodic inventory consolidation. Along with this, it is important to insure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order. To ensure success, Corteva will provide the opportunity for advanced training in the following areas will be provided to support daily activities: sample management, laboratory automation, data handling, robotics and computer programming.

Lead for managing the storage and retrieval of compounds in inventory stores.
Receive external compounds, inventory racks and prepare for registration.
Manage daily compound retrieval for the weigh lab and dispensing groups to meet customers’ needs.
Manage return of compounds into storage facilities.
Work with other focal points and team members to support other processes and workflows.
Work with technical lead to integrate/implement new equipment into existing workflows.
Perform periodic storage consolidation
Learn the complex Laboratory Information Management Systems.
Perform simple integrations of laboratory equipment.
Work with engineering to design and fabricate custom instrument accessories.
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
Experience with liquid handling, quality control, laboratory automation and sample tracking are highly desired.
Specific experience with Liquid Handlers (Tecan, Biomek), SQL, VBA programming, Barcodes, Sensors or robotics is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems and databases is highly desired.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) is required
Demonstrated strong, multi-tasking ability as necessary for success.
The successful candidate should be highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and accountable for project/team/personal goals.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers is essential.
BS/MS - Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Automation or related discipline is required.
