DEPARTMENT: Will County Court Services – River Valley Detention Center
TITLE: Licensed Clinical Psychologist
RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Psychologist and Assistant Superintendent of the River Valley Detention Center (RVDC)
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Complete court-ordered forensic evaluations, including competency to stand trial evaluations, criminal responsibility evaluations, and sex offender evaluations for in-custody and out of custody adult and juvenile defendants for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court. Appear in Court when necessary to provide testimony on cases. Provide clinical supervision to diagnostic and/or advanced pre-doctoral students when assigned. Participate in on-call, 24/7 mental health crisis rotation. Additional duties may also include completing court-ordered psychological evaluations and screens on detained and out-of-custody court-involved youth, as well as maintaining a caseload of detained youth to provide psychotherapy. The licensed clinical psychologist may also be responsible for facilitating weekly psycho-educational group therapy sessions with detained youth if needed, as well as providing crisis intervention, disciplinary reviews, and segregation check services with at-risk youth detained at RVDC. Finally, the licensed clinical psychologist will maintain adequate records of all clinical work as outlined under the ethical guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) and RVDC protocol. The candidate may also complete special projects as indicated by the Chief and Assistant Chief Psychologist.
STARTING DATE: To Be Determined
SALARY: Starting Range of $66,000 to $72,000 annually

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and current, active license to practice in the State of Illinois; Experience conducting Forensic Evaluations; Licensed Sex Offender Evaluator (LSOE) preferred but not required.

About Will County Court Services / River Valley Detention Center
Will County is located in the northern part of Illinois and is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. The county seat of Will County is Joliet. Psychologists employed through Will County Court Services provide forensic evaluation and services to adult and juvenile court-involved individuals through the Twelfth Judicial Circuit.
Established in 1990 as the Will County Temporary Juvenile Detention Facility, the River Valley Detention Center (RVDC) was opened in the summer of 1999. RVDC is a 102-bed maximum-security facility located in Joliet, Illinois. Developed as a joint venture between Will and Kankakee Counties, RVDC is a temporary placement center for juveniles between the ages of ten and eighteen, awaiting court decisions on their cases.
RVDC emphasizes access to education, physical and mental health care, recreation, and religious services. Focus is placed on intensive and ongoing staff training to better serve the residents of the River Valley Detention Center. Policies reflect statutory regulations as well as the expectations and standards of the Illinois Department of Corrections, the American Correctional Association, and the National Commis...sion on Correctional Healthcare.
While in secure detention, juveniles participate in the Juvenile Education Program as well as a wide variety of programming conducted by the Juvenile Detention Staff, the Mental Health Team, and Community Social Service Groups. River Valley Detention Center provides juvenile education services on a year round basis working with Joliet Township High School District 204.
