Hampford Research (HRI) is looking for a top-notch operations professional to oversee planning and manage execution of all manufacturing functions in our organization.
HRI, one of the most successful specialty chemical companies in the US, particularly in the electronics, coatings, personal care and dental markets is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to join their senior management team to prepare for the next phase of our growth.
You’ll set goals and strategies for all manufacturing functions including production, materials management, engineering and maintenance to enhance our current performance and drive our future growth.

Our ideal candidate will have an undergrad and preferably a graduate degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with a well-rounded background in chemical synthesis manufacturing. The Director of Operations is responsible for directing production, engineering, maintenance, and materials management to meet customer demand. This role is also responsible for the facility and all equipment to position the company for growth. The Director of Operations is a key member of the Management Team and reports to the President.
Director of Operations Responsibilities:
Takes ownership and initiative in smooth running of all manufacturing operations
Creates a department strategic plan which complies with and enhances the companywide strategic plan and business plan.
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates manufacturing procedures and implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations efficiency and effectiveness.
Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics by which manufacturing e?ciency and e?ectiveness can be evaluated.
Identi?es opportunities for improvement and creates and oversees execution of improvement plans.
Provides e?ective team and project management, including setting project priorities, overseeing project resourcing and completion timelines, monitoring project costs, and ensuring corporate goals and initiatives are being met.
Maintains strong interdepartmental relationships to support the timely delivery of products and services to our customers.
Ensures work environments are well organized, efficient and safe.
Forecasts and manages departmental budgets.
Monitors manufacturing costs and addresses issues to achieve ?nancial objectives.
Communicates and develops training plans for new directives, policies, or procedures while maintaining positive morale.
Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, the industry, and the community.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science or higher in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
15-20 years experience in chemical synthesis plant operations, including 5-10 years at a management level
Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams to accomplish objectives
Committed to holding team members accountable while creating and keeping engaged employees
Experience overseeing taking products from concept to commercialization
Project management and leadership experience
Experienced effectively deploying Lean strategies and maintain ISO:9001 certification
