Vitalant Research Institute (VRI) (www.research.vitalant.org/Home.aspx), a University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) affiliate, is seeking a motivated post-doctoral fellow. Under general direction the successful candidate will focus on studies and analyses in infectious epidemiology and blood donation policy. We are specifically looking for a researcher who has experience in studies of gay and bisexual men. The Fellow will be a key contributor to a large study that will collect data to assess alternative approaches for blood donor eligibility than the current 12-month deferral since last sex with another man. This study and will focus on traditional (demographics, risk behaviors, health status, clinical care) and molecular epidemiology (biomarkers of exposure) in potential blood donors.

The successful applicant will have previous experience conducting epidemiological research. Excellent communication and analytical skills in statistical analysis are required. Familiarity with observational and randomized controlled trial study designs preferred. Candidates should possess a PhD in Epidemiology or other doctoral degree in a related discipline and have a strong background in study design and statistical analysis.
