Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) to serve as Director of the CF Center at CHOP.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania as well as residents and fellows at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and/or outpatient clinical services in the candidate's sub-specialty, including supervision of residents and fellows (if applicable).
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include an outstanding record of research productivity. Research activity may include NIH and/or CF Foundation-funded clinical, translational, or basic research focused on CF and/or pulmonary medicine.
The Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine is consistently ranked among the top pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine groups in the country and includes 30 faculty members, 11 advanced practice nurses, 9 pulmonary fellows, and more than 150 staff. The CF Center at CHOP provides care for almost 300 individuals with CF and benefits from a robust multidisciplinary research environment at CHOP and Penn that is comprised of NIH- and CF Foundation-funded investigators in the Divisions of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology and Nutrition, and Adolescent Medicine at CHOP and in multiple departments across the Perelman School of Medicine at Penn.
Applicants must have a M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and be board certified in Pediatric Pulmonology.
We are seeking an outstanding clinician and investigator with expertise required in CF clinical care and research, in building clinical and research teams, and in mentoring faculty and trainees. The CF Center Director will be expected to ensure outstanding care for children with CF through leadership of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team, oversight of continuous quality improvement activities, and participation in CF Foundation initiatives, including the Therapeutics Development Network.
