Special Instructions to Applicants The Director of the School of Health Professions is employed full-time on a 12-month basis. The School is located on the Hattiesburg, Mississippi, campus and is administratively housed under the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

Job Summary The Director serves as the administrative leader of the School of Health Professions. The Director is responsible for all academic teaching/workload assignments and appointing program coordinators to carry out the School's academic, clinical, and educational missions. The Director is responsible for the administrative oversight of the academic and clinical programs housed in the school including Athletic Training, Kinesiotherapy, Public Health, and Therapeutic Recreation. The Director is responsible for all budgetary aspects of the School’s programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Adheres to IHL Board, University, College, and School policies, procedures, and regulations. Approves and maintains standards, policies, and procedures for the operation of the School.
Interacts with and maintains open channels of communication with the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions as well as with all members of the School's Corps of Instruction and staff.
Directs, manages, and coordinates all faculty/staff involved in the missions of the academic and clinical programs.
Responsible for annual evaluations of all School faculty/staff.
Maintains active participation in professional organizations. Maintains continual awareness of issues, trends, and research in disciplines represented in academic programs.
Conducts public relations efforts with community and regional affiliates. Prepares reports, memos, and correspondence to University higher administration, agencies, employees, and to the community as required.
Responsible for budget management and proposals; manages the School to ensure that all School operations are within budget.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in one of the disciplines housed in the School of Health Professions (Athletic Training, Kinesiotherapy, Public Health, or Therapeutic Recreation) or an advanced degree in one of the disciplines with a doctoral degree in a related field.
Academic administrative experience predictive of the ability to lead and manage a diverse school with multiple programs.
Evidence of a distinguished and sustained scholarly record, which may include research and external funding.
Evidence of teaching excellence.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Candidates should possess qualities of effective leadership.
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of operation of academic and clinical programs.
Candidates should have the ability to deliver accurate, concise and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
Educational and professional experience in health policy and administration or health promotion and education.
Experience as a department chair, school director, or program director in an accredited program is preferred.
Evidence of strong administrative and managerial skills.
Experience with the initial accreditation and re-accreditation of health profession degree programs.
