The St. Maarten Laboratory Services NV (SLS) is an ambitious and rapidly developing organization in St. Maarten. SLS provides a 24-hour diagnostic service to the patients of the local general hospital, ambulatory patients, and the public health department. Our mission is to provide high-quality service to our clients in a timely manner. SLS is accredited for both the ISO 15189 & ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
The need for the quality service is required both nationally and internationally. SLS strives to maintain its high-quality service to St. Maarten and the regional islands. The purpose of this position is to maintain, monitor and further develop, the laboratory quality system and advising in the field of quality assurance.
Oversee SLS’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure quality throughout all stages of the laboratory.
Identify and seek appropriate resources for the functioning and improvement of the QMS.
Conduct periodic internal laboratory audits for process control and improvement as well as staff competency. Document audit observations, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
Drafting a yearly quality plan together with the Laboratory director
Contribute to thepolicy developmentcommissioned bythe director to guarantee thequality of services conducted by the organization
Assist in ensuring continuous compliance with requirements of accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
Review and update policy and procedure manuals as needed
Maintain oversight of the Proficiency testing enrollment
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify the laboratory management.
Follow established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within established acceptable levels of performance.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications
Provide training on compliance and quality management tools to staff as needed.
Requirements and skills needed
Completed bachelor’s degree in a relevant laboratory area: a management training is desirable
Minimum three years experience in a laboratory environment
Demonstrate coaching and training skills to train and coach staff
Knowledge of and experience with laboratory quality systems ISO 15189 and ISO / IEC 17025
Knowledge and experience with laboratory (automated) information systems
Experience with document management systems
Strong analytical and communication skills
Good command of the English (Dutch would be a Plus)
