The John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics (HIHG), at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to work in the laboratory on the molecular genetic aspects of identifying a protective variant for the ApoE4 allele, the strongest genetic risk factor for Alzheimer Disease.  This individual will also interact with other investigators working on NIH-funded Alzheimer disease research in the HIHG. 

The Core Job Functions are as follows: 

-Collect information and data through observation, experimentation, and various other methods, to include operating highly technical laboratory instruments and equipment.

-Analyze sequencing data from large sample sets.

-Confer with principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular equipment as required.

-Review journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous experiments to aid in the design and development of original procedures and techniques.

-Supervise, train, and instruct residents, interns, students or lower level personnel in laboratory techniques and procedures.

-Present research findings at lab meetings and conferences.
