Do you have training or experience in infection prevention and control? Medical Care Development, Inc. (MCD), a non-profit, public health services organization based in Maine, is accepting applications for public health professionals to join our Healthcare Epidemiology Emerging Threats Services team in coordination with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. We are hiring up to nine full-time positions that are eligible for MCD’s benefit package. Opportunities are based around Maine and Maine residency/relocation is required at this time.
These positions will provide epidemiology/infection prevention services to support Maine CDC’s Healthcare Epidemiology Program, ensuring subject matter experts in infection control are available to provide consultation to healthcare facilities, assist in response during public health threats, and conduct surveillance/analyze data. Job duties may include:
Infection control and emerging threat consultation services to healthcare facilities
Conduct assessments of healthcare facilities to identify gaps in infection control and/or emerging threat readiness
Link healthcare facilities to evidence-based resources to mitigate those gaps
Develop action plans, policies and education materials with healthcare facilities to accelerate mitigation for high-risk gaps and conduct follow-up consults or site visits to ensure mitigation of gaps by established deadline
Conduct outbreak investigations in accordance with Department policy, protocols, and/or procedures
Serve as a liaison between the healthcare facility and the State’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL) in regard to specimen submission for laboratory testing
Make recommendations on control measures a facility should institute to control an outbreak
Provide education on infection control and prevention, and emerging threat readiness in extended care facilities across the State, as needed

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
A Bachelor of Science degree in a healthcare-related field with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare setting??
Two (2) years of clinical experience (i.e.?direct or indirect patient care) or experience in the extended care healthcare setting
Formal training in Infection Prevention and Control
At least one (1) year experience with project management
At least one (1) years of experience in data analysis and using data for improvement activities, or has completed formal training
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, web-based meeting platforms, and utilizing other web-based programs?
Competencies among successful applicants are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public Health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level I
