The Quality Manager is responsible for supporting the ongoing implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and patient safety programs for GenesisCare. This includes reviewing clinical processes and the delivery of patient care to standardize best practice across a defined region using a continuous improvement framework/process. The outcomes of this role will ensure continual optimization of patient outcomes as well as supporting the achievement of compliance with accreditation and other standards from clinical and corporate perspectives.
This position provides leadership and works collaborative with staff to improve processes that support the reduction of medical/healthcare errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes, and seeks to improve the quality of patient care through a commitment to excellence and innovation in partnership with local teams.
Key areas for the role:
Evaluate and monitor the clinical practices to implement process improvement strategies
Identification, investigation, analysis, and communication of clinical incidents or adverse events and the development of processes and protocols to ensure proper corrective actions are effective at improving patient safety initiatives
Oversee and maintain a continuous state of audit readiness to ensure each clinical practice meets state and national quality requirements including compliance with all accreditation and licensure requirements
Drive quality improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of clinical practice, including but not limited to credentialing, infection control and medication management
Proactive development, support and promotion of activities to ensure the provision of safe patient and reliable health care.
Promote and encourage a reporting culture of clinical incidents, near misses and hazards across the organization.
Maintain clinical incident reporting system ensuring appropriate completion and follow up of incidents by management in a timely manner
Support effective corrective actions by ensuring all incidents and non-conformities are recorded and investigated to determine root cause and ensuring corrective or improvement activities are closed out in a timely manner
Lead and manage quality audits and analyze audit results creating improvement plans and act on audit findings and recommendations to ensure compliance
Support a culture that enables staff to understand and comply with quality, clinical risk and patient safety guidelines to meet relevant accreditation standards and legislative obligations.
Participate in the planning of specific training and educational programs as appropriate to quality and safety needs of GenesisCare centers.
Lead, facilitate and support the development and implementation of quality improvement projects to deliver improved safety and quality outcomes for patients
Use quality improvement/ project management principles and methods to improve safety and quality processes and outcomes
Lead (and participate in) peer project teams to determine process improvement opportunities in relation to the domain space of quality, compliance and risk.
Provide consulting to re-engineer, strengthen and standardise these processes. Provide solutions when appropriate to skills set/issues being considered.
Using experience and interpersonal skills, coach team members to encourage consistent, high quality process mapping, risk identification and mitigation, and continuous improvement in relation to systems and processes as documented within GC policies, agreed protocols and work procedures within the scope of services provided.
Proactively review systems and processes through data collection and audit to measure and identify potential sources of process improvement in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. This may involve stakeholder involvement when determining metrics to track this progression.
Establish on-going communication to share with process owners and management, issues and improvement recommendations.
Lead and/or be a key member of quality improvement teams providing expertise on improvement methodology, data analysis, deployment of QI tools including charters, failure modes evaluation analysis (FMEA), gap analysis, and process mapping to identify opportunities for improvement. Advanced knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e. g. Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, Juran, etc.).
Lead and collaborate with key stakeholders on the tracking, trending, and evaluation of safety events. Partner on the root cause analysis (RCA), development of action plans, and quality improvement initiatives to drive improved clinical outcomes to reduce harm.

QMS co-ordination
Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a safety and quality improvement program for all centres in a defined jurisdiction
Promote and help develop an integrated system of quality and risk management that supports the strategic direction of GenesisCare.
Help maintain GenesisCare’s quality management system to ensure effective application of clinical best practice, support of service operation, regulatory compliance and accreditation requirements.
Influence and educate regional clinical teams and management to ensure leadership of compliance with the QMS at state level.
Standardization of Documentation / Systems
Leverage existing documentation and expertise across the Practice to achieve standardization and integration in a collaborative and engaging way.
Develop a systems oriented approach by working with local practice stakeholders and maintain those systems from a managerial perspective to enable document management and control.
Maintain standardized policies, forms and evidence to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

Experience:
3+ years’ experience in a similar role
Post graduate qualification (or similar or working towards) in management or leadership.
Post graduate qualification (or similar or working towards) in the quality field.
Preferred – clinical experience in similar environment
Membership of a relevant professional body
Preferred – Certified in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ)
Demonstrated knowledge of safety and quality management principles and theory, quality management systems applicable to the setting, audit and data collection, analysis and evaluation, benchmarking and use of best practice.
Knowledge and application of health care standards, acts and legislation
Working in an IT systems orientated environment of SharePoint/Intranet and risk incident management systems
Strong background in developing and delivering training in the area of quality and risk
Strong leadership skills with the ability to implement change management processes in relation to quality management and experience in liaising, influencing and negotiating with staff at all levels of the organization
Working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build a culture of quality, continuous improvement and compliance and to deliver exceptional patient centred services
Background in document standardisation and control, internal audit, compliance and process mapping
Advanced Microsoft Office capability –Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio Skills in managing committees and delivering outcomes
