The War-Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) at VA New Jersey Health Care System is accepting applications for a Research Faculty position (www.warrelatedillness.va.gov).
The WRIISC is a tertiary clinical research center just outside of New York City that specializes in serving combat veterans who have difficult-to-diagnose disabling illnesses through clinical care, risk communication, education, and research addressing potential environmental exposures and adverse health outcomes. The successful applicant will have federal funding or the potential to obtain federal funding and conduct research focused on one of the following areas for Veterans with complex post-deployment health concerns:
Implementation & translational science
Faculty at the WRIISC have expertise in exercise science, integrative physiology, clinical psychology, behavioral medicine, medically unexplained illness, women’s health, neuropsychology, health communication, imaging and health services and have appointments at our academic affiliate. Faculty regularly collaborate with clinicians and educators at the WRIISC to conduct their research, provide education to providers through the VA and help inform clinical innovations.
Publish in peer reviewed journals, and present findings at national conferences.
Obtain federal funding for their research.
Be a subject matter expert on educational products.
Develop and implement innovative research.
Opportunities exist to supervise fellows and externs.
Opportunities exist to be involved educational and operations initiatives.
Federally funded independent investigator.
Passion for improving quality of care for Veterans and conducting innovative, groundbreaking research.
Experience working with Veterans or research applicable to Veterans.
Collaborative, and values working in positive and productive culture.
