The Director of Risk Management leads risk identification and mitigation activities through collaboration with the Quality and Patient Safety team, clinicians, administrators, and leadership to address opportunities for improvement in the delivery of high quality care. This collaboration includes establishing consistent processes that support a proactive approach to risk reduction and high reliability. Utilizing the domains of enterprise risk management (ERM), this role includes but is not limited to evaluation and assessment of clinical risk, staff issues and scope of practice (human capitol), operational risk (patient complaints, staff and patient safety), environmental and clinical exposures (hazard risk), technology (documentation, medical device and electronic health record issues), financial risk (service recovery, and write-offs), compliance with regulatory requirements (legal/regulatory), and crisis/emergency response (strategic risk). The Director will provide coordination of the Hendrick Health Risk Management Program to protect the interest of Hendrick Health and patients focusing on clinical risk identification, regulatory risk reduction, facility risk prevention and risk control.
The Director has broad responsibility for the development, leadership, and management of a best-in-class enterprise professional, property and casualty liability and related claims and clinical risk management program in support of the mission and vision of Hendrick Health and its system of community physicians and other clinical care providers. The Director will have responsibility for integrating clinical risk and professional liability programs to promote patient safety, quality and performance improvement in furtherance of the goals of the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, General Counsel, and Chief Quality Officer.
Minimum of ten years of nursing experience with five years’ management level experience. Two years of risk, quality improvement, patient safety, or claims management. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Master’s degree preferred in business, jurisprudence/legal studies, healthcare administration, nursing.
