Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Local Programs Division Director in Olympia, WA to serve as the “State Aid Engineer”. This position functions as the lead executive for the administration for Local Programs as required by law. Providing direction and support to a diverse group of cities, counties, ports, transit agencies as well as tribal governments, this position collaborates with other Divisions to ensure successful implementation of the agency’s Strategic Plan. This position advocates for practical solutions and performance-based data driven strategies. It also promotes and supports cooperative planning and partnerships between WSDOT and local agencies to improve the integration of all modes in Statewide system plans.

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, program management, transportation planning, business administration or other closely aligned field.
Ten (10) years of experience leading and managing transportation programs and/or agencies.
Ten (10) years of experience in transportation planning or related field.
Five (5) years of experience navigating complex organizational relationships in a large public service environment.
Broad background including planning, project development and contract administration, project prioritization methods, asset management techniques, and transportation system analysis methods.
Extensive knowledge of the state’s legislative and budget processes.
Knowledge of Title 23 CFR and applicable RCWs including program eligibility requirements and state federal aid program management.
Experience with oversight to projects, identifying problems, and constructing plans of actions to correct deficiencies.
