ITS Signal Technician II: $25.055 - $33.825 per hour
This position is part of a flexible classification. Qualified candidates may be hired at any level based on their experience, education and training as determined by the hiring authority.

The purpose of this position is to perform highly technical work in the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical, electronic and digital controlled traffic signal control devices and lighting systems.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Perform job duties adequately and properly; follow personnel and department policies and operating procedures; show respect, tact, and courtesy in dealings with coworkers and the general public; behave in a manner that does not obstruct or hinder other employees from completing their duties; act in a manner that is safe and follow the City's safety procedures at all times.
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain traffic signal control devices, ITS/Communication systems and auxiliary equipment including analog, digital, wireless, electronic, and microprocessors.
Repair or replace damaged signal equipment such as signal poles, signal and pedestrian heads, and push buttons.
Perform a variety of preventive maintenance duties including changing signal bulbs, cleaning reflectors and refractors, painting poles, and cleaning signal control cabinets.
Install, maintain and repair pre-timed, semi-automatic, fully automatic, electro-mechanical, electronic and digital controllers, auxiliary equipment, and similar devices.
ITS Signal Technician I:
Requires two years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic control devices, preferably including traffic signal systems.
ITS Signal Technician II:
Requires two years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic control devices preferably including traffic signal systems and two years of experience as an ITS Signal Technician Level I+ or equivalent.
Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
ITS Signal Technician I and II:
Requires the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in electronics or degree related to the core functions of this position. An Associate’s degree is highly desirable
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
ITS Signal Technician I and II
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
ITS Signal Technician I:
Possession of, or required to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire, a Work Zone Safety Certificate, Electronic or Electrical Technician Certificate and a Level I International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Certification
ITS Signal Technician II:
Possession of, a Work Zone Safety Certificate, Electronic or Electrical Technician Certificate and a Level II International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Certification.
Successful completion of initial probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation. Based on position, referred applicants may be subject to additional testing which may include pre-employment polygraph, physical and drug screening.
This position is Non- Exempt, which means it is eligible for overtime compensation and/or compensatory time.
