The City of Rancho Cordova is recruiting for an experienced SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PLANNER to join the Public Works team working to establish the City of Rancho Cordova as a leader in transportation on the local, regional and national level.
Through leadership, strong communication skills and innovative forward thinking, the successful candidate will work with city staff, consultants, and regional partners like Caltrans and SACOG to develop intelligent transportation systems, integrated multi-modal transportation networks, implement smart city technologies technologies and coordinate grant funding opportunities. Local projects typically include development review and serving as a technical expert related to transportation systems, policies, studies, and building consensus among neighborhood groups, elected officials, development partners, and community members.
The ideal candidate is an excellent problem solver and collaborative leader who enjoys complex transportation projects and has management experience in a variety of public works projects.

Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, civil engineering, land use planning, or closely related field
Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in transportation planning, civil engineering, land use, and/or long-range planning; including a minimum of four (4) years of supervisory and project management responsibility.
Professional experience related to public works infrastructure projects is preferred.
