Postdoc in advanced microscopy and imaging in poplar
The Groover lab at the US Forest Service and Department of Plant Biology at UC Davis is seeking a postdoc or exceptional graduate for a project developing new microendoscopic methods for imaging living cells in poplar stems. This project is in collaboration with engineering and plant biology collaborators at the U Utah and Brookhaven National lab. The goal is to develop cannula-based and miniscope based optical probes that enable imaging of cells deep within living poplar stems. Key experiments include describing differentiation of key wood cell types, drought stress responses, changes in metabolites and hormones using biosensors. Tasks and training will include making and characterizing transgenic poplars, advanced microscopy techniques, and image analysis using machine learning. Poten
