With a population of more than 47,000, Monroe, Louisiana is the eighth largest city in the state. Along with its sister city, West Monroe, located across the Ouachita River, Monroe is a regional commercial hub for the 15 parishes that comprise Northeast Louisiana. Encompassing 31.6 square miles, the city is the principal city in the Monroe metropolitan statistical area, the second-largest metropolitan area in North Louisiana. The Engineering Department is composed of three divisions: Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, and Project Management/CIP – Capital Infrastructure. The Department is responsible for planning, reviewing plans and specifications, and coordinating construction for all major infrastructure projects, deve
