The primary function is to plan, direct and coordinate quality programs and ensure products are manufactured according to the established standards regarding dimensions, inspections, proper documentation, reporting, and tracking. These tasks also extend to external suppliers.
Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:
Follow direction provided by EVP Manufacturing and Supply.
Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required.
Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organizations core values.
Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Directly supervise employees and fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and correcting employees behaviors, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Develop department goals that align with the business objectives, identify metrics to measure staff activity and hold staff accountable to meeting metrics.
Partner with Finance to develop an annual budget, monitor budget comparing planned verse actuals, identifying discrepancies and making necessary adjustments.
Coordinate and perform internal audits on equipment and processes, partner with appropriate function to address preventive or corrective actions as necessary. Monitor preventive and correction actions to ensure issue is resolved.
Implement best practices that solicit additional business from existing customers promoting a full line of products that are offered by the company.
Analyze and implement effective solutions in order to coordinate the resolution of major quality issues.
Ensure that documentation and design controls are appropriate for the organization and administer controls for both internal and external processes and procedures.
Serve as the primary Quality authority for all incoming material and finished products, ensuring raw materials, components and finished parts and products meet the agreed upon requirements.
Monitor established calibration and testing programs.
Develop, document, and implement methods for process control, process improvements, testing, and inspections.
Interact with supplier and customer representatives concerning problems with quality and develop effective and efficient corrective actions to resolve issues.
Coordinate and work inter-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing to resolve quality related issues.
Communicate with management all quality issues, trends, losses and other related factors, to ensure open lines of communications with all functional leaders.
Develop, execute, and analyze quality reporting measures.
Maintain a current knowledge of industry and trends that impact the business.
Travel, as needed, to support business activity.
Educational/Other Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related area.
Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a Quality position within a manufacturing environment.
Three years of experience leading a professional staff.
Familiar with Lean Manufacturing concepts and demonstrated experience implementing the concepts in a production environment.
CQM certification preferred.
Computer literacy including MS Office applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Experience influencing others and driving change for continuous improvement efforts.
