The role you’ll contribute: Responsible for participation in the development and implementation of the facility-wide program for the surveillance, prevention, and control of infection under the direction of the Manager. Acts as consultant, educator, and clinical practitioner to the hospital staff and licensed independent practitioners for all aspects of infection prevention and control. The value you’ll bring to the team:
· Performs surveillance on positive cultures to determine if the infection is hospital acquired or community acquired.
· Maintains an ongoing review and analysis of healthcare associated infection data, risk factors, and special studies that relate to infection control.
· Analyzes data to follow trends or spikes in infection and investigates potential sources/reasons.
· Reports required diseases to the Florida Department of Health at the local and state levels to fulfill Florida statutes.
· Observes associates and medical staff providers for correct use of personal protective equipment and isolation practices to prevent transmission of pathogens and reduce Healthcare Acquired Infections.
· Assists in the development and implementation of an evidence-based program for surveillance, prevention, and control of healthcare associated infections in collaboration with others on the infection prevention team, medical and clinical staff
· Provides feedback to hospital departments about healthcare associated infection risk of patients.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Minimum qualifications:
- ADSN or BSN in Nursing
- Two years in a clinical nurse capacity or clinical setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS
- FL RN license
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or to obtain within 2 year
- Preferred qualifications:
- Two years infection control experience in an acute healthcare setting
- BNS Degree
