Urban Engineers Hartford, CT office is looking to hire qualified Transportation Construction Inspectors with CTDOT experience for positions on Bridge & Highway, Rail & Facility Projects throughout the region.
Transportation Construction Inspector Responsibilities:
Inspect all construction within the project limits to ensure that the work conforms to the requirements of the Contract plans and specifications.
Monitor and document all work performed by the Contractor, public utility companies, railroads, governmental agencies, and other entities.
Interface with the various inspections staff, Client and Contractors on all facets of the project.
Perform daily construction inspection of work activities.
Complete daily reports, quantity calculations, and reports for construction work observed.
Transportation Construction Inspector Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Construction or Engineering discipline
and/or NICET-certified in Transportation Construction Inspection Level 2 (TCI-II) or higher
and/or Certified Construction Manager Certification (CCM)
2+ years of experience as a construction inspector required
Experience working on CTDOT Rail & Facility, highway and bridge projects preferred
Additional Requirements:
To qualify, candidates must possess a minimum of the requirements listed above, however candidates are encouraged to review CTDOT inspection requirements listed in the “Consultant Engineering & Inspection Pamphlet” listed on the CTDOT Website.
Candidates must have knowledge of transportation facility, highway and bridge construction materials, methods and procedures as required; ability to write daily reports; ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations; ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; ability to deal effectively with people.
Familiarity with the latest CTDOT DOT Standard Specifications for Roads, Bridges and Incidental Construction Form, CTDOT Construction Manual, Materials Testing Manual, and knowledge of the “Site Manager” software, COMPAS and others as used by CTDOT to establish and maintain project records are a plus, but not required at time of hire.
