The Infection Control Manager is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating & goal setting for the system wide Infection Prevention & Control Program that is compliant with all applicable laws, regulations & accreditation requirements. The Infection Control Manager will provide region-wide infection prevention oversight to assure standardization of practice and adherence to established standards and regulations. The Infection Control Manager is accountable for the development of effective systems & processes for prevention of hospital associated infections, surveillance, infection identification, investigation, and communication to appropriate leaders of identified trends and/or opportunities for the prevention of hospital-acquired infections. This role requires the highest level of problem-solving ability and expertise in a highly specialized knowledge base. The Infection Control Manager ensures infection risk assessments across the enterprise are completed and prevention and control strategies are initiated and monitored. The Infection Control Manager has 24-hour accountability for the Infection Prevention & Control Program; manages the supervision of Infection Preventionists; has input on goals and operational budget of Pt. Safety & QI Department.
Education, License, & Cert
Bachelor's Degree in Health-Related Field required nursing preferred. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is required or must be obtained within 1 year of start date.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of infection control experience with demonstrated skills in communication. Experience in managing infection control program preferred. Has knowledge and experience in patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious disease, communication, program administration, and epidemiology. A minimum of 2-4 years management experience is desired.
