Risk Management Education and Claims Coordinator - Stony Brook Clinical Practice Management Plan, Inc.

Location: Stony Brook, NY  This position is eligible for our hybrid work model. This is subject to change at the discretion of management. 

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday through Friday - 8:30am - 5:00pm 

SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for the ongoing management of our faculty risk management education program and will be responsible for ensuring the timely management of malpractice incidents and suits.  This position will assist the Director of Risk Management in the development and deployment of risk management initiatives. 

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

• Develop annual risk management education modules
• Oversee risk education platform and ensure full faculty compliance with training requirements
• Collaborate with third-party administrator and/or insurance carriers to report & manage incidents and claims
• Coordinate information requests including but not limited to medical record requests for investigations and defense counsels.
• Identify potential areas of risk concern and propose mitigation strategies
• Assist in preparation activities for CPMP Risk Management Committee meetings
• Assist faculty with risk management related questions/issues and work towards resolution of risks
• Develop and communicate with senior management on appropriate responses to risk events and medical care complaints in accordance with legal requirements
• Supervise risk management staff
• Participate in working groups as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Required Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State.
• 3-5 Years demonstrated experience developing and implementing education programs
• Ability to present to leadership groups

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Evidence of developing and implementing risk management education for physicians and non-physicians.
• Risk management experience in an academic healthcare setting
• Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with staff, medical providers and organization leadership.  The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  The position is largely sedentary.
