POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible to plan, implement, and evaluate care for surgical patients during complex vascular, cardiovascular, and cardiothoracic procedures. To include open heart procedures. Ensures patient care, safety standards, and documentation is carried out according to AORN standards, recommended practices, and guidelines. Receives direction from: Providers, Anesthesia providers, Nurse Manager. Gives direction to: Surgical Technician, Sterile Processing Instrument Technician.
SHIFT:Day/Variable w/ Rotating Call
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years experience as a CVOR Operating Room Circulator.
1-2 years experience as an Operating Room Circulator in other specialties (General, Ortho, Urology, ENT, GYN, etc.).
1-2 years as a CVOR Surgical Technician.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Current MT RN license required.
CNOR preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Basic nursing principles and procedures.
Principles of asepsis.
Basic office skills including computer and keyboarding.
