Opportunity to provide academic instruction, clinical supervision, and research mentorship to graduate students in the Program in Genetic Counseling, a partnership between Saint Louis University and Washington University Schools of Medicine
Primary Responsibilities
Provides prenatal genetic counseling (in-person and telemedicine) to patients in several high risk Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinics.
Counsels patients about genetic screening and diagnostic testing options including NIPT, CVS, and amniocentesis as well as advanced fetal imaging (e.g. fetal MRI, echocardiography).
Identifies families at risk for genetic disorders, children with birth defects, or a variety of other inherited conditions. Analyzes inheritance patterns and risks of recurrence.
Interprets complex genetic and laboratory data/test results. Communicates findings with physicians and patients.
Assists patients with the navigation of financial aspects associated with genetic testing.
Assists with diagnosing genetic problems and develops short- and long-term genetic counseling plans.
Provides ongoing genetics education for medical professionals (medical students, OB residents, MFM and pediatric specialty fellows, attending physicians, and genetic counseling interns).
Initiates, develops, and implements genetic screening and health management protocols.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Requirements
Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an ACGC-accredited training program
ABGC/ABMG Board Certification or Active Candidate Status
Experience preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply
