This role assists leadership in providing expert leadership and managerial guidance for the performance of the Department of Medical Ethics [DME], with particular focus on the engagement of staff. The role assists the leadership in planning, organizing, leading, and managing the resources of the Department of Medical Ethics for the effective and efficient achievement of organizational and departmental goals and priorities.
The role actively communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with leadership throughout CHOP to create partnerships that enhance the ethical quality of deliberation, decision-making, and conduct of all members of the CHOP staff.
Education and engagement of CHOP staff regarding medical ethics
Conduct of clinical ethics consultations
Support of the CHOP Ethics Committee
Development, review, and revision of ethically pertinent CHOP policies
Advancing the quality of pediatric ethics with patients, families, and society
Wide-ranging efforts to improve the ethical quality of CHOP staff conduct
Creates and maintains an environment where staff feel valued, appreciated, and recognized.
Recruits, coaches, develops, and retains qualified, competent staff. Ensures that all staff meet all requirements of their positions.
