ANN ARBOR, MICHIGAN (USA). The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine is seeking a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD to serve as an Assistant or Associate Director of the Histocompatibility (HLA) Laboratory. Candidates must be qualified to direct an HLA laboratory as defined by CAP and ASHI standards.
The ideal applicant will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in histocompatibility testing, transplant immunology, and/or immunogenetics and must be able to provide clinical laboratory support for solid organ and stem cell transplantation recipients and donors. Additional training in Transfusion Medicine is desired but not required. Primary responsibilities include providing technical direction and oversight for histocompatibility testing, interpreting and reporting clinical tests, and consulting with direct care providers and other clinical colleagues. Participation in clinical research and teaching pathology trainees, clinical fellows, and laboratory staff is expected. Numerous opportunities to develop and/or participate in basic, applied, and translational research programs exist within the Department and institution. The successful candidate will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology with rank based on experience and record of accomplishments in service, education, and research activities.
