The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri is seeking full-time clinical neuroradiologists to join our group of diagnostic neuroradiology and neurointerventional faculty members. Our faculty are recognized experts in central nervous system imaging of adult and pediatric patients.  The Neuroradiology section has an ACGME-approved independent training pathway of ten diagnostic and two neurointerventional fellows.

The neuroradiology section offers a nurturing clinical and academic environment that maintains a tradition of excellence in clinical service, education, and cutting-edge research on the brain, head, neck and spine.  Applicants should be ABR certified or board eligible with either an MD or MD/PhD, fellowship trained in Neuroradiology, and a deep commitment to clinical excellence and teaching. Although not required, it is desirable that the applicant should also have a background and interest in the pursuit of clinical research.

Applicants should be ABR-Certified or have passed the core examinations and be on track to take the certifying examination. Fellowship trained or established strong competency in neuroradiology and CAQ or CAQ eligible in neuroradiology is required, and candidates must be eligible to practice medicine in Missouri. Candidates must be willing to collaborate and should have a strong affinity for teaching. An established record of scholarly work is valued. There is opportunity for departmental leadership for those interested and with proven leadership skills.

The Neuroradiology Fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) is a comprehensive training program designed to prepare fellows to enter either academic or private practice. Under the supervision of subspecialty-trained neuroradiology faculty, fellows gain expertise in all aspects of adult and pediatric clinical neuroradiology, including brain, spine, head/neck and neurovascular imaging. There is ample opportunity to gain experience in spinal and angiographic procedures and the neuroradiology section has a strong background in incorporating new technologies into clinical care. Fellows learn about emerging research and translational imaging techniques from leaders in their fields, including resting-state fMRI, diffusion tensor imaging, dementia imaging, and vessel wall imaging. Fellows investigate an aspect of neuroradiology through mentored scholarly projects chosen from neuroradiology education, clinical research or basic science research. Principles of physician wellness are promoted by fostering a collegial work environment, providing academic time to pursue scholarly interests and creating a schedule that balances clinical work with personal time off. Fellows spen...d the majority of their time at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital at Washington University Medical Center. Both hospitals are large, nationally-recognized tertiary care hospital with excellent clinical programs in neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology and orthopedic surgery. Fellows rotate to a community teaching hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, for additional experience in head and neck imaging as well as community radiology. The Siteman Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center, is also located at the Washington University Medical Center. Imaging is performed in both hospital- and outpatient-based imaging facilities on state-of-the-art equipment that includes 19 Siemens MR scanners (six 3T magnets) and several Siemens CT scanners, including dual-energy platforms. In addition, MIR has a Siemens PET/MR unit that is used for both clinical care and research applications.
